An internationally acclaimed painter, Orestes Gaulhiac’s paintings are fantastical scenes of vivid color and playful musings among humans, animals and nature. His work is inspired by his childhood in the lush countryside of Santiago de Cuba where he first discovered that all beings nurture a close relationship to one another. Gaulhiac delves into the complexities of modern-day life by bestowing human qualities on fish, birds and animals. Folklore comes alive in rural scenes populated with animals, plants, fruit, dolls and circus acts. His playful universe celebrates the grandeur of animals and nature altogether.
Orestes Gaulhiac presents 13 new vibrant paintings. The exhibition Reflexiones de Abril (April musings) brings to life the artist’s imagination during the many weeks spent recovering. Orestes Gaulhiac has been represented by Galeria Cubana for 16 years. As always, his paintings spring alive with captivating elements of romance, humor and mysticism.
